1to1, alongside Urbanists for Equity(U4E), were requested to design and develop a series of sociospatial research workshops in support of Local Studio’s refurbishment work with the Gordon Institute for Business Science (GIBS).
The request was to design and host a workshop that would support the academic staff in unpacking their perceptions and values of their campus and build a dialogue of understanding to guide the management and the architects in creating a clear brief and design strategy for the upgrade of the space.
1to1 and U4E employed students from the Graduate School of Architecture’s Critical Practice
course who had undergone the ASF Challenging Practice programme’s tools and methods. These
students were equipped with design and visual thinking tools and experiences and were the lead
facilitators with each group of GIBS academic staff.
