1to1 was invited by Counterspace to assist in the socio-technical research for the upgrading of a
an occupied building in the Maboneng Precinct.
The project co-produced a strategy to ‘evict’ the occupants into their own building by building clipon infrastructure to support the long term moving of resident into the adjacent building (as it was earmarked as a social housing project by the City of Joburg).
The project was stopped when the developers evicted the residents with a financial offer to leave. To date the building is still unoccupied and has been art washed in the interim.
